Pythons and Anadondas are famous for their ability to eat prey that is almost as large as the snakes themselves. Their highly-articulated lower jaws allow them to swallow creatures as big as tapirs and deer, though sometimes they overestimate their abilities. These photos all show snakes that tried and fatally failed to consume animals that they couldn’t stretch to accommodate.
1. Python vs. Pig
An Australian man named Neil McDougall was out on his Julatten property scavenging mushrooms when he happened upon this interesting find. It was a python, almost fifteen feet long, distended by a mystery meal. Turns out it was a fully-grown pig. The snake would have been fine had it not had its side gouged by another animal, probably a wallaby or another pig. Karma hurts.
